note #51

she watched her life drip away. ounce by precious, glittering, ruby ounce trickling then falling into the silver basin. she tried to speak, but no words formed on her tongue. she tried to move, but was held in place by something worse than fear.

the minutes ticked past.

the tiny amount of liquid in the basin became a small puddle.

she tried to move again, but the bonds held tight. the nightmare wouldn't go away. the dim room dipped and danced in perilous disregard for her sanity.

she passed out.

distantly a door opened and muffled sounds punctured the soft silence. through cracked eyelids she saw shadowy figures remove the basin. one stood in front of her and said something. what it was, she couldn't hear.

the world died in an explosion of silent darkness.
